THE "SOCCER" GAME.

DOMINION COUNCIL. A special general meeting of the Council of the Now Zealand Football Association was held last evening, Mr. H. N. Holmes presiding over an attendance of eleven delegates. A letter was received from the St. John's Hockey Club, AA'estport, in which it was stated that the club had begun praotising "soccer," and also that members appeared to be keen on. the game. Four elevens were playing the ganio in Westport. Mr. Fordham was instructed to write various peoplo on tho 'West Coast asking for information regarding the forming of more teams there. • u Tlie.-f....Canterbury -Association ■ wrote stating that owing to'i tho state of their finance's, and the scant support given to the game in that district, they could not' see their way to give a guarantee towards the proposed visit of a New South "Wales team to New Zealand—Deceived. Mr. Stephen Lynch, lion, secretary of the New South Wales Association, wrote stating that junior football in the Australian State was making great strides, and it had been found necessary to form a separate association to govern these grades.—Deceived. It was reported that both the Southland Association and Otago Association had decided to guarantee tho amount asked for in regard to tho New South Wales tour. • The- ■ former association stated that present prospects indicated that they would experience a very successful season. After ordinary business had been concluded, tho council discussed the new rules which had been drawn up and submitted by the sub-committee appointed for the purpose. Practically all the rules were passed without comment, only one or two drawing forth remarks from delegates. In Rule 11 it was stated that "tho affairs of the association shall bo governed by a council consisting of seven members elected by the representatives at tho annual general meeting. " This did not meet with the approval of some of those present, and, after discussion, it was resolved that instead of tho present constitution, i.e., two representatives from each affiliated association, tho affairs of the association shall be governed by a council formed of one representative from each affiliated association. Instead of the old rule, which provided that 75 per cent. of. the net gato should be allotted to the challenging association, and 25 per cent, to tho holders of the Brown Shield, it was decided that the proceeds of each match should be apportioned as follow:—Two-thirds net gate to the challengers and one-third net gato to tho holders.
