DR. HASTINGS RESIGNS.
Dr. Hastings, of.'St, Cyrus U.F. Church, Montrose, whoso famo is in all tile churches and elsewhere oil account of his Bihlical Encyclopedia work, has intimated his resignation of his ministerial charge. The intimation-was given out hy the Rev. H, M'Dohald, who preached in the church on March 5, and the announcement was heard with no little surprise. Dr. Hastings intends to devote himself entirely to literary work. Besides being editor of "The Expository Times," he has recently undertaken the editorship of a voluminous work, "The Great Texts of the Bible," which will run to twenty volumes, and will be issued at the rate of four volumes a year. Dr. Hastings has had a very successful pastoral career. Ho became minister of Kinelf Free Church in 1884, where lie. laboured for fourteen years. Subsequently ho removed to Willison Church, Dundee, and three and a half years later took up the charge at St. Cyrus. Ho has built two churches— those at Kincff and St. Cyrus—and was able (o have both opened free of debt.— "Christian World."
