ANNUAL REPOIIT. , THE FINANCIAL OUTLAY. The Superintendent of. Reserves (Mr. Geo. F. Glen) reported to tho City Council last evening upon the work done in the various city reserves during the year ending March 31, 1011. Mr. Glen deals also with tho work which ho recommends should bo carried out during tho ensuing year. Following is the report Botanical Gardens.—Tile now part of gardens parallel with the Karori Road will be finished and planted this coining winter. Newtown Parle.—The shrubbery border extending from the entrance gates to luo public necessaries was cleared of the old pino trees and shrubs, the ground trenclicd, and re-planted and finished off with a strong rustic fence. Tho corresponding half of the border extending to tho Park: gate a Daniel Street will be planted in the same manner this coming winter. Anderson Park—This reserve has not been very much used during tho past criokct season, as tho ground is rather rough and uneven, and in some places requires levelling up with soil and re-sow-ing with grass-seed, Kelburno Park.—A largo amount of turling and patching has got to bo. dono before the commencement of tho- winter games. Duppa Street Grounds.—These grounds, especially tho northorn one, are very uneven, aiid requiro to be attended to as early as possible, the grass is also very thin and poor upon both grounds. They should be sown with bone-meal, so as w got a much thicker body of grass. Kilbirnio Reserve.—'This ground was sown with grass-seed last Octboer, but is not in a very satisfactory statu._ Tho old macrocarpa trees upon two sides ot the ground should be grubbed out, and a hedge planted inside of tho fence. Also the sloping banks surrounding tho ground should bo turfed over. Nairn Street Reserve.—The playground hero is in a very rough and unsatisfactory state. Tho ground manuring, ploughing, and re-sowing with suitable grass-seed, us it is quite worn out. , Queen's Park.—Owing to a portion of ground having been sliced oft' this reserve for tramway extension to Wadestown, a good bit of work will require to be dbne in putting the ground in order and in widening the walks. Thorndou Esplanade.—Owing to a portion of this reserve being required for the Government railway purposes, a large number of bushes will require to be carefully lifted, and transplanted m new ground. The'fence upon the north sido of tho reserve requires renewing.
