CORONATION EXHIBITION.

« SIGNS OF ACTIVITY. There arc outward and visible signa that the Coronation Exhibition is drawing near. A consignment ,of timber has already been deposited at the "J" shed for the construction of a large landing exit from the gallery of that shed—an oxit which is to extend over tho railway track which Hanks the shed, the descent from which will' be a broad flight of steps. Another entrance—other than the stairs within—is to be constructed at the south end of "J" shed, admitting to the "Sports Floor," the top door of the new structure, where it is proposed to hold sports of all descriptions during the progress of the Exhibition. Tho insurance rates on exhibits, which are regarded by the Industrial Association ns exorbitant, were the subject of a letter from the secretary (Mr. H. F. Allen) to the Wellington Underwriters' Association. This was written and posted beforo tho holidays, but up till yesterday no reply had been received. There has only teen a fair response so far to the circulars issued requesting tho loan of paintings for the Art Gallery, but further replies are expected during the coming 'weelu It is proposed that there shall be a "Nairn Corner" in the gallery, for the exhibition of pictures by the late Mr. .James M. Nairn, of Wellington, many of whoso artistic works adorn the walls of AYellington homes. This should lie au interesting feature of the Exhibition. All the ground floor space has now been let, and it will be a matter of re-arrang-ing for anyone to obtain srace in the galleries, The building work now commencing will bo done by dav labour under tho direction of Mr. Wilson, with Mr. Nicholson (of Mace and Nicholson) as superintendent. .
