CHARGE OF THROWING A MISSILE.
A CASE WITH UNUSUAL FEATURES. (By Telcgrapli-Prcss Association.) . Dunedin, April 19. A cape presenting some unusual features came before the City Police Court today, when Cecil Lean, a youth, was charged with throwing a missile on March 21. Among the 'witnesses called by Iho police was Horace Edwards, a 'farm labourer. He first of all denied remembering tho evening of March 21, and then denied knowing anything about tke case, or having spoken about it to Mounted Constable Hodgson, or having been asked any questions about it, or about anything by Hodgson. He denied ever having reen Hodgson before April 13, when the constable serve:! the subpoena and summons (Edwards being defendant in another case arising out of stone-throwing). Even then he did not know Hodgson was ;> constable. Edwards was warned by tho Magistrates aiu\ Sub-Inspector Cruiclsshank, but he profef.-od coninlete ignorance of tho whole affair.' The easo against I.enti was dismissed.
Cecil Lean, Frank Guy, ami Horace liiltt-arrts; were then charged with ushir indecent nud obscene language!' They elected to be tried summarily, and nleadeit not guilty. His Worship said: "Willi regard to this man Edwards, I am not: going to indicate any course, but my notes nre available, and -, (to , the sub-ius-'psstor) 'you had , better toko advice."
