FESTIVAL AT STRATFORD-ON-AVON. By Telegraph—Press Associatlon-Oopyrieht (E«c. April 18, 11.30 p.m.) London, April 18. Tho Shakespeare festival at Stratford-, on-Avon commenced yesterday. Fiftythree (lags were unfurled, Mr. Benson will present fourteen of Shakespeare's plays. . The anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare in April, loGj, is being celebrated tiiis year, as in previous years, by an elaborate festival in Stratford : onAvon, arranged by tho Shakespeare Memorial Association, which was established in 1875. Tho festival will extend' from April 17 to May (i, and during tho memorial week a series of Shakespeare's plays will bo produced in the Manorial Theatre by Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Benson and their company. A memorial service will bo hold on St. Giiorgo's Day, Shakespeare's birthday, aur'l on that day tho poet's grave will be. decorated with flowers. Arrangements have also been made to enable teachers and students to visit Stratford during the period from July 22 to August 19.
