MR. ISITT AT LOWER HUTT.
NO-LICENSE AND INTERRUPTIONS. A meeting of the Temperance party at Lower Hutt was held last evening in St. James's Hall. The building was packed. The Rev. J. M'Caw. occupied the chair, and was supported by local clergy. He briefly outlined the nature of the alteration in tho ballot papers or next poll, and then called upon Mr. L. M. Isitt to address the meeting. Mr. Isitt (who was greeted with applause) said that, although lie had never been on a winning side, ho felt confident that the time was coming when he would he The Temperance party, he continued, had got the "Trade" up against the wall, and they (the "Trade") could do absolutely nothing. The lady interrupted further, however, and Mr. Isitt invited her to come to tho The interrupter thereupon walked on. tho stage, and commenced to address the audience. The chairman interposed, and asked the lady to retire. She was finally persuaded to do so, and, amid some mmiinent, the chairman escorted her to tho door, but she refused to leave the building altogether, and took a seat a+ the back of the hall. Mr. Isitt liad just resumed his address when the fircbcll rang, and several Ifeit the hall. Mr. Isitt: "Now. what is the matter?" A voice: "Tho fircMl." Mr. Isitt, continuing, gave a number of illustrations of the drink evil. . More interruption from the lady, and she was ejected by the police. "I am asked to announce." ho said, "that the fire is a heap of rubbish, and it looks like a 'rag.' It is not the first timo there has been a 'rag' of this sort." Tho address then proceeded -without further interruption.
