His Excellency the Governor is a* visitor to Wanganui in connection with th 6 opening of the new Collegiate School. He returns to Auckland to-morrow. To-day the Hons. J. Carroll and G. Fowlds will be en route to Wellington from Auckland; the Hon. J. A. Millar will bo returning to Wellington from 'faupo, the Hon. T. Mackenzie is in Otngo, and thn Hon. E. M'Kenzio and A. T. Ngata aro in Wellington. The Hon. J. Carroll is expected from Auckland this evening. The Hon. D. Buddo returned to Wellington from Kaiapoi yesterday. The Hon. J. A. Millar has been spending a few days at Taupo, fishing. He is expected to return to Wellington this evening. Mr. E. T. Curtis, who arrived in Auckland by the Victoria on Sunday, has returned to New Zealand after an absence of 28 years. Ho was formerly in the Customs service in Nelson and in Wanganui, and is now a Customs inspector in Brisbane. Mr. Curtis intends to spend three months in New Zealand, travelling in both islands, for the benefit of his health, and to renew friendships firmed during his Sojourn in the country in earlier years. He will stay in Auckland for a few days, and theu goes to New Ply. mouth.
Mr. fieo. Laurenson, M.P., was a visitor to Wellington yesterday. Mr. S. .A. Hctheringion, president of the Thames Chamber of Commerce, accompanied by Mrs. Iletheringlon, arrived in Wellington yesterday to join the Ara--v;i for an extended tour through England and the Continent. Mr. A. D. Kennedy has been nominated to represent payers of dues otller than dues on ships upon Iho Harbour Board. His sponsors are Messrs. John Kcir and Mr. J. E. Schloff. Two other candidates have been nominated for the same tent. Mr. W. T. Bowater, who has disposed of his interests in the Feilding district with _a view of permanently Fettling in the Waikato, informed a. nress representative at Mangiiwoku that'he hna decided to contest the Waimarino feat in the Opposiljon interest at the coming general elections. Mr. W. R. Wilson, of the firm of Wilson and Horton, Auckland, returned by the 'J'ainni from lioir.lun yesterday. He husbesnona twelve months' visit to the Old Country for health and business reasons.
