UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS. (By Telegraph-Press Association.) Auckland, Anril 10. The University lawn tennis champion, snips were commenced yesterday at Dcvonport. There was not a large attendance, though practically all the visiting undergraduates were present. The heavy rain which fell early in the afternoon made, it necessary to stop play for an hour, and as a consequence of this delay the tournament will bo resumed on Monday inorninpr, wheu the semi-finals ol the Men's Doubles and one match in the first round of tho Ladies' Doubles will be started at 9.45. On the first day's play Canterbury College leads with eight wins, Otago University and Victoria Collego each having three, and Auckland University College two.
