STRUCK BY A WAVE.

DBOWXED OFF PARAF-ARAUMU. Last evening the police authorities received word of a fatal boating accident that occurred at I'araparaumu about halfpasi niue o'clock yesterday moruing. The victim was Cas Morrish, 21 years of age, and a resident of the city having been employed at Messrs. Macky Logan's warehouse. Morrish was staying with Sir. D. D. Hyde, the well-known poultry expert, and he left the house in company with Mr. Hyde's son, a lad 1C years of age. The two youths put out trom tho beach in a small canvas boat, and had got about half a mile from the shore when a wive struck the craft, and cap. sized it. The lad Hyde was rescued by his father, who witnessed the accident, but Jlorrish was drowned. The matter was reported to Constable Sathcrley, of Otaki, and a look-out was kept for the body, but up till last evening it had not been recovered. It is considered it may come ashore in the vicinity of Paekakariki, as the current sets in that direction. Deceased's mother is in Wellington, but his father and brother are away in Christchurch at the present time. They have been communicated with by Mr. Woodward, son-in-law of Mr. Hyde.
