To-day the lion. J. Carroll, the Hon. G. Fowkls, and the Hon. A. T. Nsata will bo in Auckland, tho Hon. J. A. fllillar in Wellington, the Hon. D. Bmklo in Christc'mrch, the' Hon. I?. M'Konr.ie at Nelson, and the Hon. T. Mackenzie in Dunedin. The Minister for Railways (the Hon. J. A. Millar) has acceded to the wish of Iho settlers at l'ukerua, on tho Manawatu line, to have a siding .at their elation. The residents are to contribute .£75 of the cost. A Press Association message from Auckland states that the Hon. J. Carroll has received a .cablegram from Sir Joseph Ward at Montreal:—"All well. Caiiaadians everywhere have shown ereat kindness and good feeling towards New Zealand." The nomination of Mr. John Fuller, jun., was omitted from the list of candidates lor the City Council published in Saturday's issue. His nominators are: Messrs. Paul Cofi-y, J. 11. Tripe, and V. Dimock. An old ami well-known identity recently passed away at Akalarav.-.-i in the person of Mr. George Morgan. His parents arrived in Wellington in the early forties, settling at Tawa Flat, where Mr. Morgan was born sixty-live years ago. Later he took up land at Akatarawa, where he lived until the time of his death. His wife survives him; also a grown-up family of six tons and two daughters, the latter being Mrs. T. liohcrtson and Mrs. C. H. Wackrnw. Mr. Thomas Morgan, of Levin, is his brother. The Anglican Dishop of Wellington (Dr. Wallis) and Mrs. Wallis will be'entertained, prior to their departure for 3i!ngland, at a social gathering in the Sydney Street Schoolroom on Wednesday evening. On Thursday (April 'JO), the day on which tho Bishop leaves the Dominion, there will bo a celebration of the Holy Communion at 7.15 a.m. at St. Paul's ProCathedral. Mr. Henry D. Baker, American Vice-Consul-Geiieral for Australia, who has been temporarily delegated by his Government to New Zealand for the purpose of preparing trade reports covering this country, is now in Wellington, slopping at the Eoyal Oak Hotel. .Mr. Baker expects to remain in Now Zealand until July, making the capital city his headquarters, but from here paying visits to every part of tho Dominion. Mr. C. W. Tanner, of Cross Creek, has publicly announced his candidature for the Wairarapa at the forthcoming general election. Mr. Tanner is a supporter of the Ward .Administration, and his. main platform will be the reform of the Native land laws.
