AN UNPOPULAR CONSTABLE.
AGITATION , IN YORKSHIRE. By Telesrajth—Pcess Association—Copyrieht London, April 10. A sentence of three months' imprisonment was recently passed on a man named Hodgson, on a charge of assaulting Henthorn, an unpopular member of the police force, at Silsden, on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, twelve miles northwest of Bradford, Yorkshire. This led to a riot, and the police used their batons, dispersing the mob. Henthorn has now been transferred t6 another position. A petition has been presented to Mr. Winston Churchill (Home Secretary) asking for an inquiry.into the conduct of the police; also demanding Hodgson's release.
