ST. JOHN'S DEBATING SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of St. John's Literary and Debating Society was held in the Willis Street classroom on Monday night. Tho chair was occupied by Mr. J. S. Butler, and the annual report and balance-sheet were presented and adopted. Tho following officers were elected for tho ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. J. G. AV. Aitkeiij president, the Rev. Jas. Gibb, D.D.; vicc-presid<Mits, Messrs. J. S. Butler, J. JJoal, G. A. Troup, C. S. Moore, alid \\. Grav; secretary, Mr Arthur R. Coad; treasurer, Mr. C. N. Mitchell; committee, Messrs. R. L. Andrew, D. Douglas, C. Millior, and Tily. There was a largo attendance, and it was resolved to get the syllabus fov the coming year immediately drawi up, and that tho season be opened on or about the second Friday after Easter.
