TRADE OF WELLINGTON.
SOME INTERESTING FIGURES.
The annual report of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce gives somo interesting figures as to tho trade of tho port of Wellington.' There is a substantial increase of nearly ft million in the total, apart from specie, more than half of which arises from wool and skins, while good increase is also shown in dairy produce. Tho heavy increment in the miscellaneous lino is duo chicflj' to the large demand for coal owing to tho strike at Newcastle. In exports the fat year 1909-10 counterbalances, on the whole, the falling-off in the other two years. In imports there is substantial increaso at each port, while in Customs revenue Wellington is tho only port showing increase; Auckland sudors from tho removal of the duty on. sugar. Shipping. The following figures give the totals of shipping entered at each of the four principal ports during tho years ended December 31, 1907, 1908, and 1909.
