THE CAIRNS FLOODS.
SERIOUS SHORTAGE OF FOOD. By Telegraph—l'ress Association-Copyright Brisbane, April 10. All the flooded centres in the north are short of food, and the problem is serious. Twelve hundred peoplo in the Chillngoe mining district, inland from Cairns, have only a fortnight's supplies. It is not thought that railway communication will bo restored for two months. The Government is urgently pushing on the work, and is instructing the engineers to disregard the question of expense.
