ROWING.

THE PETONE CLUB. The final heat of the junior sculling handicap of the Petoue Rowing Club for a trophy presented by Mr. M. J. Cauty was rowed on Saturday afternoon, and culminated in an exciting finish. After having run foul of n spectator's boat, J." Anan crossed the line six inches in front of his. opponent, Vs', Hume. This event closes tho club's season.

YACHTING. SATURDAY'S RACES. Ideal weather prevailed for yachting and sailing on Saturday afternoon, and, in consequence, each club was able to get off its race. There was not • much wind at midday, and this inclined tho yachtsmen to the opinion that there would bo no races for the day, but they brightened up when a nice fresh "northerly" began to como down the harbour. The Port Nicholson Yacht Club got off races for , first, second, and third-class yachts, and tho Te Aro Sailing Club also cot oft a race. Tho weather also suited the launches, a race being held by the Motor Boat Club. The results of the races nro as follow:— . ■ •

Port Nicholson Yacht Club. The first-class race, under the auspices of the P.N.Y.C., commenced at 3.15 p.m., and brought out four starters. Tho Siren secured the lead from tho start, followed by Alahina, with Windward, next, and Muritai coming up in the rear. The finish of the race was a good due, the boats all coming up together. The result was: Windward (lflmin.), 1; Mahina (scratch), 2; Muritai (2imin.), 3. Also started: Siren (lmin.). The finishing times were: Jlahina, shr. 2lmin. lOsec.; Muritai, Shr. 28min. 18sec.; Siren, shr. ■lOmin. 3-tsec; Windward, shr. IJOmin. 56sec.

The second-class yacht race, which started at 3 p.m., was won by Nanoya (lGmin.), with Lizzie (scratch) second, and Taipare (scratch) third. Nancy Stair (limin.) also started. The finishing times were: Lizzie, ohr. 21min. 25sec.; Naucy Stair, shr. 2Gmin. 15sec; Taipare, shr. 32min. 35sec.; Nanoya, shr. 33min. 12sec. There were only two starters in the third-class yacht rnce,'which was won by Tβ Rlvuna (15min.), with Kaivono (scratch) second. Te Aro Sailing Club. The To Aro Sailing Club got off a Tace on Saturday afternoon, in which seven boats competed. Valeta (12miri.) secured first plaje, with Lotus (12min.) second, and Redwing (7min.) third. Also started: Nan (lmin.), Kaitare (scratch), Winifred (lStnin.). Tho iinishing times were: Valeta, shr. 20min. 50scc.; Lotus, 4hr. 22min. 15sec.; Redwing, 4hr. 22min. ■losoc.; Nan, 4hr. 2Gmin. 21scc.; Kaitare, thv. 2Gmin. 28sec; and Winifred, ihr. 36iuin. iOsec. Launch Race. A launch race was decided on Saturday under the auspices of the Motor Boat Club; The race was won ny Toanui, with Scotia second, and Ilex third.
