An election to- fill the vacancy will be held on April 26, - ' Mr. N. M. M'Dougall, of tho local Public Trust office, lias been, promoted to tho position of chief clerk, at tho new officc at. Hawera. At a meeting of the Gonvillo, Town Board last evening a claim was put forward that its affairs arc managed more economically than those of any other board, and that several boroughs with less revenue than the board cost considerably more for administration.
