AMUNDSEN EXPLAINS.

Captain Amundsen, (ho rs'orwegiau explorer now in tho Antarctic, has written to the committee of the I'ram expedition apologising for not communicating his changed plans. Captain Amundsen slates that his reason for secrecy was his apprehension that the committee would endeavour to dissuado him..'His motive for tho change, was the hope of discovering tho South Pole, which ho thought would induce his countrymen to accord him sufficient financial support for his work in tho North Polar regions,
