A "SOUND STALLION" SCHEME
\ . THE LINES PROPOSED IN ENGLAND. ; The following is .the scheme which the 1 Board of Agriculture, England, has drafti , ed for the registration of stallions:— 1 1. Every stallion submitted for regis- ; itration must have been entered or accept- ; ied for entry in the Stud Book of its i breed. . . . The owner- of the stallion j, :-must, if so required, produoe to thei ;Tioard a certificate from the. keeper of the i . Stud Book to the effect that the stallion ! offered for registration has either been j 'entered in the Stud Book, or will appear j in the next volume. ;' •2. No application'in respect.of a stallion | (under three years old will be' consideri ctl. I . 3. .. . The necessary veterinary exami inhtion will be carried out by the'veterini ( ary -surgeon appointed for the purpose I by the board. j i. A stallion will not be registered or >bs retained on the register unless it is j free from hereditary unsoundness and | otherwise fit for breeding purposes. I Jf the report of the veterinary sur- ! gecn shows that the stallion is suffering | from a disease, or deformity, which in ■. the opinion of the board renders it unfit i for breeding purposes, the owner will be : Iso informed. Ho will be entitled'to havo i ; ti\e question of the existence of the disi '- case or deformity determined by a, refj , ereo appointed by the board, if he fur- ! nishes the board with a certificate by a 1 veterinary surgeon to the effect that 'the stallion is not so affected, and gives sccuri ity for the cost of the examination by the , -Teferee, which will bo payable by the owner unless the* appeal is successful. | The privilege of appeal is not to extend j to a stallion which has been rejected on ! appeal in a previous year. ; h. The board reserve to themselves the • right without assigning any reason and j without inspection or veterinary examin- ; atjon to decline to register any stallion or to remove it from the register. No apj peal will-ho allowed against a decision of X the board under this ml?. 'S.-The board ressrvo the right to cause j any registered stallion to be inspected and ; examined by th-sir officers at any time. I _ 7. If the owner of a registered stallion is detected in any fraudulent practices in connection with this scheme, all hi stallions will be liable to be struck "' tho register, and the owner may be tlc- : barred from obtaining any further benefit, under the scheme. | 8. Forms of application for the registra- ! Hon of stallions can be obtained on application to the. secretary, Board of Agricul- ! tqre' and Fisheries, i "Whitehall Place, j Loudon, S.W. Registration must be applied for each year.
