— » (From Our Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, April 1. The committee of the Xiirsing Guild (St. John Ambulance Association) met. y-s----tenlay, the Mayor presiding. The nurse's report staled that, during the past month, 83 visits had been paid to patients. One death had occurred, and one patient had been sent, to the hospital. The local Kechabite Lodge has appointed Bros. J. S. Munro and A. ]I. Mills to represent it at the iWLicenso Convention to bo held at l'almerslon on Easter Slonday. Bros. \\\ .1. Morgan and 0. Allman have been appointed lodge delegates on the Friendly Societies' Council. There was a Rood attendance at n masting of the committee of the Citizens' League last evening. JI was resolved that the league's candidates should address the electors on (he Friday evening preceding the election, and that they should also address Ihe electors at Terrace End. A meeting of the leaguo is lo bo,held on Monday night, when committees will be set up lo carry on electioneering work. Col. Chaylor was in .Palmerston 1 yesterday, and inspected premises in which to establish his military headquarters, but lias not yet come lo a decision on this point. Several members of the staff are already here. For the quarter ended March .11 the bankruptcy returns for the Pnlniorslon district are as follow.—Bankruptcies unclosed at Ihe end nf the preceding quarter, 12; c.losrd during the quarter, nilnew bankruptcies, i; total in hand, JG.
