VALUABLE PAINTINGS.

To-morrow there will be on view in Wellington what the auctioneer claims to be the finest collection of oil paintings, water-colour drawings, and artists' proof etchings ever exhibited for public sale in the Dominion. This magnificent collection has l>ecn specially selected by Mr. Robert A. Forbes, who is the Australian agent, for the Brook Street Art Gallery and the Stafford Gallery, of London, and is the sole agent in Australia for many of the artists whose names appear in "the catalogue, among whom may be mentioned the following well-known English ami Continental artists:—Professor Publio dc Tommasi, Mario Sninctti, V. Loria, K. Ricciardi, Polio Barucci, and Signor Francesco Coleman. All art lovers and the representatives of art clubs and galleries should be drawn by ".Maternity," the famous water-colour by the renowned Italian artist, Professor Publio de Tommasi, examples of whose work are to be found in the leading State and private collections of America and the principal galleries of Europe. He is represented in Australian galleries by three drawings in Sydney, one in Melbourne, and one in Beudigo. "Ma'.eruHy" was originally intended for exhibition in Berlin, and is worthy of a tdace of distinction in any modern art gallery in tho world.
