COMBINATION FOR INCREASE. At a meeting of Kaupokonui Dairy Factory suppliers, a discussion was opened up by Mr. W. Powdrell (chairman of directors) on tho pig supply and the' best means, for disposing of the supply so that the best prices would be obtained (says the "Star"). He said ho had au offer' from a Scottish' 'buyer for air the' pigs they could produce at <Jd. per lb., tho purchaser' taking the risk of disease. They were np.t in a position to accept such an offer'.this' season,' hut he advised .that a board bo set up and that suppliers enter" info an agreement to sell , only through the board, which, having ' command of a large supply, would bo able to make good terms. ; , Mr. Poole stated that 'the suppliers were now only getting 3d. or 3id. per lb. , Mr. Stevenson doubted whether -id. at : the factory 'would pay the farmers bst- ; ter than the present price, as the cm- ! ployrrierit of labour would entail expense, '.and thefo "was also tho question of delivery at the factory. The' chairman replied that if they had, say, 2000 pigs to offer they would be in a position to bargain, and they might bo , able'to say that they would not'sell un- ■ «!«• 4ld. .'■'..•' On the motion of Mr. M'Phillips it was Tesolved: "That it be a recommendation , to the directors that they make full ini quirics, and if thc-y think it advisable 'that they call a meeting of tho share-- > holders to further consider the matter at i a later date."
