——4- , SOUNDS CLUB COMPETITION. The Sounds Rifle Club, of which • A. Henderson '(the runner-up for the Belt at Treritham) is a .member, put up a good performance at'Tiia Marina on Saturday last, when competing l With the Tua Marina Club for the Hunter Cup. This handsome silver cup was presented soriie five years ago by. Mr. W. Hunter, then landlord of the Commercial Hotel, Havelock, to .be. competed for by all tho rifle clubs in Marlborough'north of the Wairau River. It was to he a challenge trophy for teams of eight men aside, and the ranges stipulated for were 200 yards and 500. yards., It .was first won by tho Sounds Kifle Club, who successfully defended it against all challengers till about twelve months ago, when the Tua Marina Club wrested it from them by'the narrow margin, of three points.. Tho Sounds team have, made four attempts to regain the trophy, and, on Saturday, were rewarded by making a record score of 532 points, or 21 better than their opponents.
