■ MR, SYDNEY BROUGH. " By Telegraph—Press Assooiatton-Oopyrighi London, March 28. Sydney Brough, the actor, is dead.
Mr. Sydney Brough, who has been before the' public in England for twentyfive years, was a polished exponent of light coniedy. Ho. comes of stock which has peopled the stage in high places, arid his going hence will figure as a distinct loss to the dramatic profession. He was the son of Lionel ("Lai") Brough, and a nephew of the, late Mr. Robert Brough, of Australia, and Miss Fanny Brough, tho well-known English actress. Sydney Brough was only 43 years of age. He made his first appearance on the stage in 1885, and went to America with his father tho next year, appearing at the Casino, N"cw York, in "The Commodore" and "Kenilworth." Returning to London, he played a succession of parts in (he old comedies in 1887, and also appeared as Charles Middlewiclc in "Our Boys," and Jack Wyatt in "The Two Roses." In 1889 he mado a. success as Wilfred .Brudencll in "The Profligate," with Sir John Hare, and was the original Ned Annesley in "Sowing the Wind." He toured with George Alexander from 1898 to 1900, and has since played a wide variety of roles at different London theatres.
