INTOLERABLE.
A MUSIC-LOVER'S PROTEST. •A correspondent, who signs himself Res Ipsa Loquitur, voices an old • grievance in tho following letter:— "Dear Sir,—l had tho good fortune to bo ablo to attend Dolores's concert on Friday, but 1 regret to say that what ought to havo been, and, in fact, what certainly would have been, one of the most pleasant evenings 1 have spent in a music-hall, was utterly spoilt—l shall not say by tho incessant chatter, but by the continued conversation of two folk sitting directly behind me. Surely these so-called musical people, for 1 presume they, would not havo been at the concert had they not been musical, are not so ill-monnered and uncultured as not to know that it is extremely rude to talk during the rendering of any itom. I wish 1 could say that the conversation on Friday night was au exception to the general rule, but no. such thing. I have been to concerts in tho Town Hall by tho Professional Orchestra, and there again many folk think that, iu addition to carrying on an animated conversation, they ought to keep time to tho music by stamping on tho floor. To real music-loving people this sort of thing is intolerable, for, in addition to being an insult to them, it is the grossest insult possible lo the performer. Inm not oils of those people who rush to the newspaper offices upon the slightest pretext, but I write to-day in the interests of music and theatre-goers generally, and I believe Hint in so doing 1 have tho sympathy of the majority of tho public."
