At a meetinc of the Gre.vmoutli Borough Council held last night, applications for the position of town clerk, rendered vacant bv the death of Mr. Iveaglr Lord, were dealt with, and resulted in Mr. J. K. Campbell being appointed. There were five applicants. Tlio position carries a salary of «C3OO per annum.—Press Association. Mr A. S. Malcolm, M.P., addressed r. public meeting in the Town Hall, Mastcrton, last evening on the ouestion of Imperial Federation. The subject (says our special correspondent) was handled in a very intclligent and impressive manner, and, at the close of the address, a vote was carried by acclamation that Imperial federation would be in the best interests of the Empire. Messrs. Whitcombo and Tombs, Lambton Quay, insert a special advertisement in this issue referring to travellers' pen carbon manifolding books.
