[Br Glekcoe.] In connection with tho Patea Racing Club's annual meeting, which is to bo held on April 17, owners are reminded that nominations close to-day, with, the secretary, Mr. R. W. Hamertou. Tho events that require attention are:—Handicap Hurdles, of 75 soys., ono milo and a half. Flying Handicap, of 80 sovs., six furlongs. Patea Easter Handicap, of 100 sovs., one mile and three furlongs. Borough Handicap, of 05 sovs., seven furlongs. Alton High-Weight Handicap, of 80 sovs., one mile. x
The Marlborough Cup this year is worth 300 sovs-a silver rose bowl, nrestntcd by Mr. G. T. Seymour, , valued at 50 sovs., and 2SO sovs. in specie. Liberal prize-money also attaches to the other events at tho club's autumn meeting, which is to bo held on 31 ay 3 and i. Nominations for all races close on April 15.
Glensitle, who won tho Liverpool Grand National Steeplechase on Friday, is 9 years of age. lie carried lOsl. Yib. in last year's Grand .National, and was ono. of the eighteen candidates which did not complete the course. In all probability he would be one of tho well-backed candidates this year as he was beinc; selected as a likely winner when tho last mail left England.
Tho well-known Awapuni trainer, T. Wilson, leaves shortly on a trip to Australia. On his return he will again commence operations as a public trainer. There will bo no.raco meetings in the North Island this week.
Canadian, who contested the Bracelet and High-weight Handicap, at. Opaki last week, is still slightly lame as tho result of a kick which he received at the New Year Bulls meeting.

In order to cope with increased patronage, the Mnrlborough Racing Club has doubled the size of its totalisntor houfe, and also erected a. new jockeys' room. This will be completed bsfore the autumn meeting.
C. Jenkins was the only horseman riding at tho Mastorton meeting who steered (wo winners. 11. Batten, A. Ward, 11. Lowe, C. Emerson, Sid Roid, K. Young:, A.M'Mullon, A. Oliver, N\ Campbell, and W. Ayro each rode one winner.
By the nid of To Roti, who scored three times, St. Paul was placed at Iho head of tho list of winning fires at tho recent Masterton meeting. Advance, with two winning representatives (M'elologuo and The Rover), was next on tho list. Acceptances for tho first day of the autumn meeting of the Manawatu Eacing Club, also final payments for classio events, close with tho secretary, Mr. J. M. Johnston, at 10 p.m. to-morrow.
Waikaraka, has again changed hands. This time he has been purchased by Iho Invcrcargill sportsman Mr. H. Harding, and will l)o trained by M. Rateliffc, who has another North Island horse (Erl King) in his stables.
At, a mcctiiiß of tho trustees of the Tanhcrinikiiii racecourse, held at Fcathersion last week, a new lease of the racecourse reserve for hventy-ono years was granted to the Wn-irarapa Racing Club.
Zealand is now out of the hacks. Hehaa proved a. much better bargain for his new owner than lias Gunboat, who wa.s bought at the same, time. The latter has been, backed several times tince he camo to the North Island, but has repeatedly failed. On tho track, Gunboat has been, credited with some excellent work, •■ ■
ho is a very poor beginner, and, on this account, is seriously handicapped in his races.
C. Jenkins will ride Daisy Paul at the Awapuni meeting. E. Murtagh, who usually docs tho riding for J. Coylo'e ttable, will not in future attempt to rido lighter than Ost.
