THE NEW ZEALAND SEAL
A VALUED POSSESSION. The Imperial authorities bavo communicated with tlio New Zealand Government on tho matter of whether it is desired to alter the season the occasion of the accession of King Georgo V. Tho Government has replied in the negative. According to tho Minister for Internal Affairs, a sentimental valuo attaches to our present official seal. We in this young Dominion havo very little in the way of traditions. This seal, however, is associated .with our earliest legislativo history. The seal is the one which is attached to all important official documents or statutory appointments. It was sent to. the colony by the Homo Government 111 3852, twelve years after New Zealnnd beenmo a colony. In ISBI it was found that thefaco'of the stamp, which is of silver, had been considerably spoiled by having been used to make impressions 011 paper instead of on wax, as intended. A duplicate was therefore obtained in steel, and this is the one now used. With such old associations, tho Government consider it would bo a pity to change tlio character of the seal.'
