CONFERENCE BETWEEN COMPANY AND UNION. (By Telegraph— Press Association.) Waihi, March 2.1. • A conference between the Waihi Gold Mining Co. and the Waihi Miners' Union was held concerning the dismissal of a member of a contract party for alleged dishonesty'in putting two rings (representing two trucks of quartz) in the tallybox. Mr. \V. 31. Wallnutt, J.P., who acted as chairman, in his decision, said tho company was justified in suspending the suspected man, having prima facie evidence of dishonesty, but, after carefully weighing tho evidence of both sides, he admitted that from a judicial standpoint a doubt was raised in his •mind, which doubt should be given in defendant's favour.
