The Power Stations and Tramways Committcs recommended: — That the question of the duplication of the tramway line from • Nelson Street to Cioa btrest, Kilbirnio, be considered in connection with the estimates for the next financial year. ....... The committee reported that the offer of the lighting department to instal electric light in "J" shed, and to light up the building while the same is used for the purpose of the Industrial Exhibition, had been accepted by the Industrial' Association. . The committee reported that the tender of Messrs. Chambers and Son, Ltd.,' had. been accepted for an iron shearing and punching machine. The Mayor explained the tenders in this case had varied from <£51 to .£IOO. The tender accepted was not the lowest It was a tender for a machine, the design and shape of which had to bo seen in a photograph, and the engineer had to selcct the one he considered best for the work. The lowest tenderer had neglected to send in a design. The price of the machine selected was .£SB. The report 'was adopted. The By-Laws, Fire Brigade, and StreetLighting Committee recommended-.— ■ That the owners, of jSroperty at Selvyn Terrace lie' informed that if-they pay .£75 of the cost (>£so7 10s.) of putting the terrace in order, the work- will be put in hand. That Mr. P. J. Hannigan be allowed six months within which to comply with the Building By-law in respect to additions to his dwelling at Adelaide Road. That consent be granted to the proposed _ new subdivision and street-con-struction oft' Grass S'f'cet to be carried . out for Mr. D. N. 'Wilkinson, subject to the conditions set out in the City Engineer's report That consent bo granted to the Coronation New Zealand Industrial Exhibition Committee to alter the J and I! Harbour Board Sheds, on the conditions imposed by the City Engineer.
