HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
(From Our Special Correspondent.) Last night, at the Hutt School, Mr. H. r. Baldwin, who is a candidate for tho Hutt Mayoralty, met a number of supporters, who unanimously resolved to form themselves into an organisation committee to secure his return. A sitting of the Hutt Court was held on Wednesday (Messrs. Chapman and Cudbv, J.r.'s, presiding), when judgment by default was given for nhintiffs in the following civil cases:—Andrew Dunn v. John Brown, £2 2s. .costs 10;.; same v. Geo. Greeks, jun., XI os. lid., costs 10*.' same v. Charles Wright, ,£1 10s. 5d., costs os.: A. SI. Wooldridgo v. Len. Price, ,£l7, costs 155.; Seed Bros. v. F. Mevrick •221 6s. 3d., costs lis. A few civil casps were adjourned by consent to April 's. In a. case, police v. Wm. E. Hughes, for riding a bicycle without :i light, defendant was fined 55., with costs 10s. Councillor Truoman will move at next meeting of tho IMouo Borough Council: "That, tho Mayor's honorarium bo increased to .£l5O nor annum." Councillor Jones will move: "That tho TYfone Council eo-nnernte with the Lower Hutt Council with u view to framing a by-law to govern the speed o? motor-cars on the main road between (he I'ptono Woollen Mills and the Ble.ck Bridge, Lower Hutt."
