Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:— At our Paliucrston North sale yesterday a. sma.ll yarding of sheep and cattle came forward. Quotations:—l'.m., breeding ewes, 9s, sd. to 103. 10d.; Romncy rams, 1J to 22 giiinexs; heifcr3 and calves, £2 10s.; cows and calves, £4 2a. 6d.; eighteen to twentymonths heifers, running with bull, £3 2s. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantilo Agency Company. Ltd. (Palmerston brnncw) report as follows:—At. Palmerston North on Thursday, we had a fair entry of sheep and cattle. Sheep were somewhat dull of sale, but buyers were present for cattle, and a good clearance was effected. We quote:—Sheep: Cull ewes, 3s. Id. to 4s. 6d.; store ewes, 6s. 4d.; store lambs. 4s. IDd.; four and six-tooth ewes, lCs. 7d.; Border Leicester rams. 18s. 6d. Cattle: Weaners, small, 165.; medium. 233. to 295.; store cows, £3 Bs. to £3 45.: forward empty heifers. £4 lis.; heifers, ir. calf, £4 10s. springing heifers, £5 17s. 6d.; fat heifers, .£6 15s. springing cows, £6 to.£7 7s. 6d.
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Upper Hiitt-stock sale, held yesterday. as ' follows:—Wc- .submitted a largo yarding of -sheep and a fair one of cattle, and bidding for both daises of stock was verv spirited. Sheep especially were in good demand, and Wo are pleased to report having sold tho whole yarding (a little over a thousand) under the hammer. Cattle wore also quick of ealc, and practically every line changed hands. A further consignment of 20 heifers, close to calving, ant! cows and heifers just calved, frpm "Sir. H. Greville, Hawera, made the good average of £3 per head, £13 2s. 6d. being the highest-price paid. We quote the "following prices:—Two and four-tooth wethers. IPs. 7d. to lGs. Bil.; two-tooth wethers. Bs. lid. to Us. 3d.; fat wethers, 12s. 9d. to 13s. 3d.; f.f.m. ewes, Bs. 7d. to 9s. Bd.; four-tooth to f.in. ewes. 9,5. Bd.; cull ewes, 3s. 2d. to 65.: woolly lambs, 4s. lid., ss. 2d. to 7s. 3d.: fat lambs, 9s. to lis. 4d.; cull lambs, ,2s. 4d.; old rams, 10s. to 18s.; heifers. close to calving, £5 55., £6, £7 55., £8, to £10 2s. 6d.: heifers, just calv.ed, £6 Its. to £7 155., £8 to £10 I2s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—At Palmcrston Ivorth on Thursday a. fair entry of sheep met with a dull market, anil several lines were passed at auction. The bull! of the entry, however, changed hands after the sale. Cattle came forward in limited numbers, and a steady demand existed for all classes. Quotations: —Mixed-age ewes. Bs. 3d. to Ss. 9d.; cull cwe= 45.; two-tooth wethers. 125.; fat lambs, 9s. sd. to Its. 6d.; good store lambs, 65.; li»ht fat ewes, 10s. lid.: forward cows, £3 195.: woaners, 21s. to - Zss. 6a.;, springing heifers, £7 2s.
