ARBITRATION COURT.
PALMEKSTOX SITTINGS. (By Telcffi'aph.— Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, March 21. The Arbitration Court sat here to-day, Judge Sim presiding, and with him wore Messrs. \V. Scott and \V. M'l'ullough. The lir.it case hoard was a compensation claim preferred »gainst \V. 1 , , and John Kniijlit, of Dannevirke, by C. Ramsay, who claimed .i'3ol) for injuries sustained while working at defendants' fawmill. A considerable amuunt of evidence was Riven, iiit'ludint! that of four medical men, who differed. The Court ordered I hat pjainlilV slmild be examined by Dr. M , Gavin, of AVellington, and adjourned (he case to enable I his to bo done. The Jlan.aw.itii Flaxuiill Union of Employees, represented by Mr. Moore, of i'oxton, appeal:;! against a decision of II r. A. 1). Thomson, S.M., in which the Magistrate found against the union in a ease which it brought some time ago asainst C. Lennox, of Foxton; for an alleged breach of the Hasmill Award. It referred to working men on Saturday afternoon. Mr. H. R. Cooper appeared lor respondent Lennox. After hearing anjiiuiPiit. the Court said that it. would lake time to consider the matter. Further evidence was taken in the dis"ute between the Shearers' Union and the employers. In this case tha union made application for an award for shed hands. Mr. W. Pryor, on l>:half of the ■employers, filed counter-proposals, and the evidence of Messrs. Acland (Christchnrch) and Xivcns (Wairarapa) was taken. The Court then adjourned the further Jiearins of the case to Wanganui. The Saddlers' Employees' Union dispute was called on, but no employers appeared.
