(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Fleefton, March 21. Keefton dredging returns: Worksop. to Saturday, lOloz. Edwt. for 137 hours; Pactclus, 28oz. sd',vt. for 120 hours. Last week the manager of the Handsworth United reported :—Crushed 28 tons of ore from all parts of the mine, for 185oz. of retorted gold from the plates, value about £«0. Bremncr'e Freehold obtained 121b. of picked stone and three pounds of specimens last week. The correspondent of tho Auckland "Star," telegraphing from the Thames on Monday, says:—"Splendid country is now being met with in tho deep level crosscut of tho Saxon mine, and it is hoped that wheu the various reefs cut are driven on westward, they will make gold. It should be remembered that the route of the crosscut takes it east of tie points where good gold was worked in the Sason and Victoria, and it will be necessary to drive several hundred feet seaward to get under these points." Old Hauraki.—The drive on the new reef at the 4CCft. lefel is along 370 ft. The country is favourable. Sloping No. 1 block. No. 8 stopo is along 7Jft., colours Of gold being seen; No. 9 stope, 55ft., a further. 3 or flit, should carry it through the hard country. No. 2 block: No. 1 stope along 92ft., No. 2 stope 75ft., reef email- in both faces; No. 5 stope, 27ft.. reef up to 12incnes wide, carrying favourable minerals. North block: No. 8 stopo advanced 19ft. for 101b. of picked stone. The reef is of fair size, and gold is seen each breaking down. At the 300 ft, level the No. 7 stope is along 61ft. The reef is up to 15in. wido; No. 8 etopc is along 37ft., tho reef is up to 6:n., and a few pieces of picked stone were selected. No. 2 block: The leading stope seaward is along 13ft. The reef is up to I2iii., colours of gold being seen. Kapanga.—The water is lowered in the shaft to tho 900 ft. level. The manager hopes to soon reach the 940 ft. level. Ho also states that gold was discovered between those two levels when the shaft was sunk, but.very little work was done at that particular spot. When the water is out of the lowest level the reef can be picked up by driving a short crosscut at the 900 ft. level. This reef corresponds with those at the 940 and ICOOft. levels. He considers the reefs here practically a new Series, as they have not been worked in any other part of the mine. '. Pride of Tpkatca.—The main level (Harbour View section) has been advanced on the reef to.the junction, but, as the quality of the ore did not improve, this work has been temporarily suspended, and t. start made with a s.econd rise at a point about 10ft. .back from the face. This has been put up Bft., and a- few colours and * dabs met with. In the main rise the reef is from 12 to 18in. in width.-but at present poor.. No. 3 stope has been carried along to i the- end of ground, and a fourth stope ad- ' vanced lGft., and blotches of gold have be»n met with.- •
