MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.
A popular Iccture oil "Beggars and Their Dodges" was given by Mr. James Moore, the missioner, at tlio Missions to Seamen lustituto last evening. There' was a large and interested audience present. The lecturer touched unoii tlio devices practised-at' Homo and 111 Now Zealand, and expressed his regret that such ingenuity could not bo tlirown into a more profitable channel from a national point of view. Ho urged upon his audienco the wisdom of planing their gifts in the hands of thoso who really knew of cases of need, rather than giving (as is tlio custom to-day) t-o tho undeserving. 'flic devices quoted were of both a humorous and startling kind. A bright programme of music and elocutionary items was presented by Miss Graham, who was assisted by Mrs. Harper. Miss Illicit, Messrs. Harper and Graliam. At the conclusion a hearty vole of thanks was accorded the performers.
