It iB probable that a garden party, oil general lines, will shortly be held in aid of tho funds of the Feilding Beautifying Society. The annual picnic in connection with the Feilding Convent School was held ou the Oroua River banks,, in Dr. Peer's property, yesterday. Mr. W. T. Bowater, having sold his property on the Sandon Koad and purchased a farm in the Kawhia district, will leave shortly for his new home. Mr. A. J. Geary, town clerk (late of tho Wellington municipal itall), lias been given permission by tho council to take the bookkeeping class in the Technical School. Tho District High School teachers have been given the use of the Municipal Swimming Baths for Monday next for the purpose of holding the "rescue competitions by the school children. Mr. Basil Kingdon, who lias been farming hero in conjunction with Mr. S. Johnson for soniu time past, hap just purchased a farm at Oliaupo, 011 the Main Trunk line. Mrs, Kingdon and Messrs. Basil and Hoger Kingdon leavo Feilding for their now home at tho end of the meseiit month. As Mr. J." A. M'Donald, a well-known Pecp-o'-Day resident, was coming into town yesteiday morning, his horso stumbled when opposite Sir. Hugh Burroll's promises at Cheltenham. Mr. M'Donald, who is 72 years of age, was thrown heavily. No bones were found to bo broken, but Mr. M'Donald is suffering considerable)' from shook. Tho Borough Council's Lighting Committee recommends the council to go tc (lip ratepayers for a loan of about £800 for installing electricity. Tl'O council will probably leave action to tlio incoming council. At a "social" held by members of. t>io Roman Catholic community on Thursday evening a hearty welcome was •,x----tended to, the Itcv.
