RUGBY FOOTBALL.
PETONE CLUB. The report and balance-sheet, to ba presented at-the Vetone Football Clubs annual meeting, which takes place on Monday night at Jones's Hall, shows that the club has again had a most successiul season'. Although players have not in the past paid the strictest attention to training, it is to be hoped that more consideration in this department will be given in the future. The committee are very pleased with the performance of the younger players. ■ The gaining of New Zealand representative honours by .Tames Ryan is something that the club may be pro ml of when it is known Hint "Ryan migrated from the school right through the Pctone Club. The: club deplores the last season of the services of Mr. Clem Green, who left for the West Coast. ' .Most, of the principal fixtures were played in Wellington last' year and local interest was taken away. Since then, however, some changes have taken place, and a much more interesting season is expected. Through the council's foresight the- local' grounds hove been fitted with all conveniences. Donors of trophies during the' year were: Messrs Coles, Palmer, Martin, Ryder, Mothes, Davis, M'Ewen, and I.jaskcy.
