GROWTH OP BOMBAY AND COLOMBO. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Colombo, March 15.The census of Colombo gives tho population at 211,13*,- as against 158,228 in 1801. . (Rec. March 16, 11.10 p.m.) Calcutta, March 16. The census gives Bombay a population of 972,892, as against 776,006 in 1901. It is estimated that 40,000 persons were temporarily absent from the city on account of the depression in the mills, the plaguo, and the holidays.
