VOGELTOWN MATTERS.
TRAMWAYS, WATER,, AND LIGHT. ;': Evidently Vogeltown is inknt on securing all possible recognition. On Wednesday ' ovening its, residents'. initiated .a. vigorous agitation with a. view toobtaining a school to cater ' for local. ..needs.". Yesterday a deputation representing, the Vogeltown Ratepayers' ..Association, .the residents of Mornington, and the proprietors of the Mornington Estate, waited upon tho Mayor (Mr. T. M. Wilford). ilr. T. Dwan outlined the requirements of both districts, Mr. Ewart spoke on behalf of Vogeltown ratepayers, and Messrs. D. Robinson and E. M. Boulton for tho Mornington residents and the estate company. The deputation urged tramway extension, and also tho installation of. water supply, drainage, and electric light in; the districts represented. Mr. Boulton pressed tho claims of the Mornington Estate in tho matter of electric light and water supply, stating that.population .was. creasing rapidly, and that many, buildings were being erected. The Mayor promised to obtain a re-, port.from the City Engineer as soon as ■possible on.the various routes by which tramways might bo extended into tho suburbs of Vogeltown and Mornington. It was not possible, Mr. Wilford mentioned, that Mr. Morton .could start, on the proposed plans for a period of. six months. His hands were very full, as numerous reports had been called for.
