(Rr Telezraph—Prcrs Association.) Invorcarpill, March 13. The twenty-fifth sports of the Irish Athletic Society were held to-day, which, unfortunately, proved Iα be (ho first wet day for weeks. The principal event was thy Sheffield Handicap (135 yards), which was won by N. W. Aldred (Invercargill), MH-yils., ¥. W. Dingwall (Invercargill), 103 yds., being second, and J. Curry (lleriot), 3yds., third. 11. S. Strang (liivercargill), 2yds., was fourth. Time, 13 2-ssec. Aldred also won the 75 yards flying Handicap from 4}j'(ls. Diugwall (syds.) was second, and T. Martin (Lumsden), 7yds., third. W. V. Trembatli (Gore), scr., wou the half mile, It.. Peddler (Invercargill), GOyds., being . second, and K. Kennedy (Winton), C2yds., third. Time, lniin. 53 l-ssec. Time, 22sec. 120 Yards Hurdles (amateur).-G. G. Keddell (Invercargill), scr., 1. Time, lCscc. Tho runner had to cross a head wind and wet ground, yet he lowered the standard. Keddell also won the amateur 220 yards in 2-lsec. from scratch. E. Hughes, tho well-known Rugby footballer, created a surprise by defeating all the cracks (including Fordo) at collar and elbow wrestling.
