HOME RULE FUNDS.
: ♦ — : • A CAMPAIGN IN NEW ZEALAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association Copyrtftht) Sydney, March 15. In connection with a recent message' from London stating that Mr. William Redmond, ex-M.P., and brother of the Nationalist leader, intends visiting Australia to collect Home Hule propaganda funds, Cardinal Moran lias been advised that Mr. Redmond goes to New Zealand, not Australia. THE NATIONALISTS' NEEDS. Bishop O'Donuell, Mr. J.E. Redmond, M.P., and Mr. John Fitzgibbori, M.1 , ., trustees of the United Irish Parliamentary and National Ji'und, at the- end of January issued an appeal to their fellowcountrymen on behalf of that fund, in it they said:— "Xo appeal was issued for special funds to meet tlin two general elections of last year, although the elections, and especinlly the last, were the most expensive fought by the Irish party for the. last thirty years. The expenses of theso elections were borne by the cver-geuerous subscriptions of our kinsmen in America and elsawhore abroad, and the fact that Ireland itself subscribed so well to the. Parliamentary fund last year was one of the main reasons why our friends in America responded so generously to Ireland's appeal for funds to meet the powerful and unnatural combination of faetionism and Unionism which was opposed to us. . . . This struggle necessitated an exceptionally heavy outlay on the part of the' national organisation. It will thus be seen that the demands on the funds of the party have been unprecedented, and that in order to enable the party to face its responsibilities in the future the Irish people i\t Homo must be prepared to dd their duty by placing it in a position free from financial anxiety. The full and constant attendance nf the party atAVestminster from this time forward will bo Absolutely necessary from day to day. One of the most urgent needs of the present is the i< ausuration nnd continuance of a Home Rule campaign in the English constituencies and the diffusion of literature on the. Irish nuestion through the medium nf the Irish Press Arencv already established lit Westminster." '
