Mr. Haldanc, Secretary for War, in an Ajniy debate in the House of Commons, announced that Lord Kitchener niul n committee of experts would investigate tho required development of the Koyal Engineers in specialised trades. Mr. Haldanc added that a Construction Corps of six hundred railway- engineers ■would be organised, with a Traffic Corps of 1200 for handling the railways in war time. AN AUSTRALIAN REPORT. (Eec. Commonwealth Railway War Council recommends that the Council should have a definite military constitution; that an engineer and railway staff corps be created; that the proceedings of tho council bo recorded as recommendations to tho Minister of.Defence. It is also proposed that the Council's duties generally be to furnish advice on' such railway matters as are referred to it by tho Minister, to suggest regulations for the transportation of troops, and to' advise local military authorities on capacity and possibilities of the railways.
