For $pmo considerable time Vogeltpwn has been'ihinus a schbolhouse, but local residents hdvo-now'determined that they Will not any longer tolerate the absence of this necessary biiilding.. ' Years t ago vogeltown did own a'school,:and the site on- which it used to. stand is still-avail-able. The building itself was shifted bodily to Brooklyn at a • time When' 'it appeared that.a school in that suburb would meet both, its own requirements and those-of Vogeltown. Now, however, residents,.-of Vogeltown consider, that they are.entitled to a school in their own Tight. Supporting this contention they state, th.nt there, ars at present 150 children in v'ogeltown. Of these some attend the Brooklyn..Schbol,. some the District nigh Scnool at NeWtowri, and others go to school at Berbampore. The Education Board is,at the present time 'considering the erection n. school at MoriiingtOn, i suburb.Adjoining .Vogeltawn. .To this. Murse Vo'geUown residents offer strong opposition, on the ground 'that- their need is greater .than.that of Moruington, and should be,first satisfied. . Last evening a meeting of Vogeltown residents,.: called to further the claims nbove outlined, was held at the residence of-Mr. Jacks. Mr. Hewitt .'tw' Bided over an .attendance of .about thirty, and apologies were ' offered . for . the ■absence of twelve other- residents who could not conveniently attend.. Mr. J. P. Luke, M.P., wrote apologising for his nonattendance, and expressing sympathy with the object of the meeting. . Mr. E. A; Wright, M.P.,. was present. It was proposed that a deputation wait upon the Education Board to ask that a school be elected on the old site. After an animated discussion, in the course of which the olaims of the district to a 6chooJ were strongly supported, the resolution was carried unanimously. A large deputation of ladies and gentlemen was afterwards appointed to . wait upon the board on a date to 'be fixed by that body. ■ ■ . .
