CRICKET. THE; HAWKE GUI' FINAL. SOUTHLAND WINS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch March 14. The cricket match between Southland and Rangitikei for possession of tho Hawko Cup was concluded to-day, and resulted in a win for Southland. ■Rangitikei, who only scored 74 in the first innings- to their opponents, • 345, played a fino, uphill game, and tho second innings closed with a total of 351, to which 0., Marshall (not out) contributed IG6, G: F. Hill 53, and B. Signal] 38; Southland, •in thoir second innings, scored the runs necessary to win with the loss of two wickets, tho not-outs, L. Toole-and D. C. Hamilton, scoring respectively 40 and 29, the total for two wickets being .84. .

Management committee. PROFIT ON THE SHIELD MATCH. A meeting of tho Management Committee'of the Wellington Cricket. Association, was held in tho Occidental Hotel last evening, Mr. M. F. Tho gate receipts totalled £278 Os. .3d. The heaviest item of expenditure was £41 17s. 6d. for ground charges.

It was decided to endeavour to arrange the match for Friday.; and Saturday week. The Wednesday .Association wrote .asking if a. representative match could' bo arranged between the Saturday and Wednesday players. It was decided to inform'tho Wednesday Association that owirig to the lateness of the application and the accumulation of fixtures tho match could not bo played.
