THE DISCARDED BULL'S-EYE.
UNLOOKED-FOR RESULT. It was Herbert Spencer who stated that the unlooked-for consequences of any lino of human action are always greater than the expected. Recently'it was announced that the bull's-eye was doomed at the Trcnthara rifle meeting. The first "consequence" is that stated by our Masterton correspondent: The proposal (he says) to abolish tho bull's-eye target in connection with future meetings of the New Zealand Riflo Association is likely to give an impetus to the Wairarapa Rifle Association. This association, which holds its meetings just prior to the Trcnthara meeting, intends retaining the bull's-oye, and increasing its, prizes considerably.
