To-day the Hon. J. A. Millar and the Hon. G. Fowlds will be in Wellington. The Hon. J. Carroll leaves for Now Plymouth, the Hon. D. Buddo will be in Christehurchi the Hon. R. M'Kenzie in the Bay of Plenty, the Hon. T. Mackenzie in Dunedin, and the Hon. A. T. Ngata. in Poverty Bay.
The Hon. D. Buddo left for Kaikoura last evening.
The Hon. G. Fowlds goes to Christchurch to-night on Departmental business. While ho is in tho south ho will, at the request of tho North''Canterbury Education Board, lay the foundationstone of a new primary school at South Spreydon, a suburb of Christchurch. Tho .Minister then goes on to Dunedin, and while he is thero he will lay tho foundation-stone of the new building of tho Young Men's Christian Association.
Dr. Ewart lies seriously ill at his homo in Upper Willis Street. He was slightly better-yesterday.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Corder, of Sun-, derland, who have come out from England tovisit members and adherents of the Society of Friends in New Zealand, are staying at the Friends' Hostel, Wellington Terrace.
The Timaru Presbytery yesterday sustained a call to tho Rev. Frank Jeffreys, of Dunedin, to the charge of St. Andrews, vacant by the resignation of the Rev. J. H. G. Chappie, who has established a Unitarian congregation iu Timaru.—Press Association.
Mr. H. M'Manaway, well-known in racing circles, has taken over Hastie's Hotel, Fcilding.
Mr. A. M'Clure, Town Clerk of Canipbelltown, has been appointed Town Clerk of Ashburton, in succession to the late Mr. H. H. Fooks. There were forty-two applicants.—Press Association.
The Rev. A. B. Lillingston, vicar of Holy Trinity, Hull, who took part in tho recent Anglican General Mission, was taken ill with typhoid fever on his way home from New Zealand, and had to bo taken to hospital at Colombo. He made a rapid recovery, and expected to be in Hull before the end of February.
Dr. W. H. Hosking, of Masterton, has left on a visit to his son, who resides in Rarotonga.
The death occurred yesterday morning, at the old homestead, Kuratawhiti Street, Greytow.t, of Mr. John Judd, senior, a well-known Wairarana farmer, and a member of a family "of pioneer descent, known throughout tho province. Deceased was 77 years of age.
The death occurred at Mnrton yesterday of Mr. H.. E. Kuwson, well 'known for ninny years as a resident of the Upper Hint district. Mr. ]?a\ison enUnged in farming mirsuils for some 25 years at the Upper Hutt, and aftorwent to Perth, Western Australia, but returned to the Dominion a year or two ago, ami took up his residence, at llarton. At one. time he was an active and enthusiastic member of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society. and rendered valuable service in that capacity,!
Mr. J. T. Hogan, M.P., Wanganui, and Mr. G. Laurensou, M.P., Lyttelton) were visitors to Wellington yesterday.
Mrs. Suclson, formerly of Palmerston North and Wellington, and for several years a resident of Sydney, is a visitor to Wellington. She leaves at the end of the week for Palmerston.
Mrs. Pragncll, of Maslerton, has received cable advice of the death in England of her brother, Mr. Samuel Collins.
Mr. J. G. Trevilhick, who has been drawing-master at tho Auckland Grammar School for the past 28 years, died last week. Prior "to coming to Now Zealand in 1881, Mr. Trevilhick was a naval architect in England, and was engaged in building the first ships of the North German Lloyd Atlantic service. On arrival here ho found little doing in the, way of shipbuilding, and so aceeptctl the nosition at the Grammar School, wlifch he held till his death.
Mr. W. G. Talbot, secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, left for Christchuich last evening to bo present at the championship meeting, which is to be held on Saturday. He is accompanied by Mrs. Talbot,
Our Foilding correspondent states that Mr. A. G. Heron, who has been assisting the Rev. A. S. Innes Jones for a period extending over eighteen months, is to leave Folding shortly to enter Selwyn College, Duncdin, where he will study, with a view to taking orders.
The death occurred early yesterday morning of one of Wauganui's most respected citizens, in tho person of Mr. T. W. Blennerhassett, J.P., for twenty years manager of Hallenstcin Bros.' Wanganui branch. Deceased, who leaves a widow, four sons, and five daughters, retired from business eighteen months ago, and shortly afterwards went on a trip to the Old Country. Ho returned a few weeks ago and shortly afterwards was seized with a painful complaint, which resulted in death, after a comparatively short illness. Deceased was an active church worker, being for many years parisbioneers' churchwarden of Christ Church. He was also a prominent Freemason. Mr. Blcnnerhassett was a man of sterling character and great kindness of heart.
Among those leaving Wellington for Sydney by Friday's steamer is Captain Makgill Maitlaud, lato A.D.C. to his Excellency tho Governor. Captain Maitland is travelling to England, via Japan and Siberia. Other passengers arc:—Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Williams, of Wellington, and Captain A. M.
