PROTEST AGAINST SYDNEY SHOW. . by Telegraph—Press Assoclatlon—Copyrlsht ! Sydney, March 13. The. Most Rev. Dr. Kelly, Roman Catholic Coadjutor Archbishop of Sydney, endorsed the Anglican Primate's protest ngainst the Royal Agricultural Show being held during Holy Week. The protest of the Anglican Primate has caused some discussion in Sydney. The heads of the Nonconformist Churches, on being interviewed by the press, did not appear to take much interest in the matter. "The position I take is this," said j one of the leading officials of the Royal , Agricultural Society. "The- public will | not treat Holy' Week in the way that synod or the'Archbishon desires it to be treated. They -will persist in regarding it as a holiday time. They will go to harmless anrtK'inients in Holy Week, and it is very likely that they would regard < any interference 'with that privilege as I something in the nature of restricting ( liberty of conscience. In keeping the show ] open we consider it not only a legitimate ( aiid harmless form of amusement, but a very instructive spectacle for the public. If we did not keen open on the days that are objected to, then thousands of working people about Sydney would never be , able to "see the show." . } : —~—" i
