WAIWERA FOR LONDON. At 3.45 p.m. on Saturday the Shaw, Sarill, and Albion Company's steamer Waiwcra cleared Wellington for London. The vessel, which is practically a full ship, is due to reach the Home port about April 25.
WARRIMOO LEAVES SYDNEY. Cable advice received last night states that this week's direct boat from Sydney to Wellington—the Warrimoo—left the New South Wales port at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday. She should show up at Wellington about mid-day on Wednesday next.
WANAKA LEAVES NEWCASTLE, On Saturday morning the local office of the Union Company was in receipt of advice which stated that the steamer Wanaka left Newcastle for Wellington direct. She is bringing a full load of, coal, and is expected to show up about Thursday next.
THE AMOKURA. It is anticipated thnt the Government training ship Amokiira will leave Auckland about the end of this week for the Kormadec Islands. In a letter to the Marino Department, Captain Hooper states thnt the lads who have been down with scarlatina are progressing very favourably.
MAGDALA, FEOJI NEW YOHK. An arrival in the stream at Wellington at 9.5 p.m. yesterday was the U.S. and A. Line's steamer Mngdala. The vessel, which berths at the Taranaki Street Wharf this morning, coincs from New York, via Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland. She has 830 tons of cargo to discharge here.
THE KNIGHT OF THE GAETEIt. Prepaiations for repairing the Knight of the Garter are already well under way. The discharging of the vessel's cargo was completed on Friday, and on .Saturday sho will go into dock. The keel blocks in Iho dock are being raised so that the workmen may bo able to work underneath the vessel without stooping. Two months are stipulated for completing the repairs, which constitute the largest contract oT its kind to be carried out in the Dominion. The work may possibly be done in less time, in which case the contract price will be reduced by the amount cf dock dues saved. It is estimated that repair:-: to the vessel's machinery will take about eight days to comiileto, so that the vessel will nut reach Wellington until April 8, instead of March 30. Leaving Wellington at 3.20 p.m. on Wednesday last the Ii.M.S. Muitai arrived nt Auckland on Friday morning. She continued her voyage to Kan Francisco, via Rarolonga and Papeete at 1 p.m. oil Saturday, and is expected to reach her destinatiuii on .March 31.
ARRIVAL OF THE RUAIIIXE. I Shortly before 9 a.m. on Saturday the New Zealand Shipping Company's It.M.S. Ru.'ihine, fron. Loudon, via Cape Town and Hobarl, dropped anchor in the stream to await medical inspection. Dr. Pollen, I'orl Health Ollircr, declaring everything satisfactory the vessel berthed at the King's Wharf at 10.25 .a.m. A report of the voynge supplied by Mr. C. Searle, the purser, states that the Ruajiino left London on Friday, January 20, but owing to detention through fog in I lie River Thames and hazy weather on the run down the Channel the vessel did not reach Plymouth until Sunday, January 22, at 4 a.m. After embarking passengers and mails the voyage was resumed the same day at 11 a.m., fine weather with light winds being experienced to Las Palmas, which port, was reached at. midnight on Thursday, January 26. Here some damage (particulars of which will be seen elsewhere in this issue) was sustained, owing to the F. 11.5. Line's steamer Deacon Orange colliding with the Rnahine. Aflcr temporary repairs had been effected tho vessel proceeded on her voyage to Cape Town at 6.40 a.m. on February 1. Very fine weather prevailed through the tronics.and Cane Town was reached on Wednesday, February li Aflcr a stay of toven hours tho vessel left the South African port for her lung run across the Southern Ocean to Hobart; Moderately fine weather wati experienced on this part ol the voyage, and by good steaming Hobart was made at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 5. Hero some 700 tons of cargo were discharged and 50 landed for Australian ports, and the final stajzo of tho journey was entered upon at 4.30 a.m. on March 7. It was stated that tho vessel had left tho Tasmanian port at 10 p.m. on March 6. What actually happened was that she left the wharf at that hour, but anchored in tho harbour until the following morning, owing to thick weather. For the first 24 hours out a. head wind was encountered, after which fine weather villi gentle southwesterly winds until Cane Farewell was abeam, the vessel arriving at Wellington as 3tatcd above. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Riinutaka arrived in the stream at Wellington from Wanganui yesterday afternoon for the purpose of takinE in bunker conl. Subseouently the vessel visits Lyttelton, and leaves there for London ou March 15. At 7 a.m. yesterday the Scales chartered steamer Clan Mcnzics left Wellington for Westport, whore she replenished her bunkers before proceeding to Picton and Auckland to finish loading for Borne. Mr. T. Lyons, second mate of the steamer Defender, left the vessel at Wellington on Saturday. It- is expected that the Wairau will be engaged for isomc little time in the Wel-lington-Blenheim trade. The vessel loft Wellington for the Marlborough hounds port yesterday, and will return here tomorrow, leaving again for Blenheim tho same day. Early this week the Union Company's steamer Kaitangata will bo dispatched from Westport lor Wellington. Yesterday three colliers, namely, the Komata, koromiko, and liogulus, arrived iu pdrt from Westport. On March 20 the Mararoa will revert to her old time-table running.' and leave Lyttelton for Wellington oil the arrival of the first express at the former port. This afternoon tho Union Company's steamer Kotuku will come olf the Patent Slip and the-Stormbird will be hauled up.
