GREAT GATHERING AT PAPAWAL (By Telccraph—Press Association.) Masterton, March 11. > One of the largest gatherings.of Maoris over held in the AA'airarapa is to bo held at Papawai this mouth, commencing on March 25. It 16 anticipated that over i<. > will be present, including Maoris from all parts of the Dominion. Invitations have been sent to King George, of Tonga, and leading Hawaiian natives. The objects of the gathering are the unveiling of a memorial to Tamahau Mahupuku, an influential Maori, who died hero some years ago, and to discuss the welfare of tho Maori race generally, particularly of 'ho younger generation. His Excellency Iho Governor has signified his intention of being present at tho unveiling of the memorial.
