LABOUR DEPARTMENT PICNIC.
4 The Labour Department held its annual picnic at Day's Bay on Wednesday. Mr. John Lomas, Secretary for Labour, read a telegram from the Minister for Labour (Hon. J. A. Millar) wishing the staff an enjoyable outing. At cricket, Mr. Aldridge's team defeated Mr. Casey's by 37 runs on the first innings. The sports resulted as follow:—Word judging competition, V. E- Bernard, 1: T. Boyce, 2; swimming race (clmmpioiiship), G. W. Jackson, 1; \*. P>- Bernard, 2; high jump, Kenneth Tait. 1; ladies' race. Miss Saxon. 1; Miss Wynn-Williams, 2; Departmental championship (100 yards). H. StennrltHurle, 1; V. B. Bernard, 2; throwing cricket ball, Miss Saxon: relay race, Misses Saxon and Wynn-Williams, Messrs. Casey and Stennett-Hurle; tennis match, H. Stennett-Hurle, 1;.. E. M, Casey, 2.
